Act of Covenanting Together

2. ET: Welcome and Greetings

3. DTA: introduction …

Brothers and sisters of this fellowship our Christian journey has brought us to this place this afternoon, first, to covenant together to be the Kadungu campus of Oasis Church, a member of the International Partners in Harvest family; and secondly to to induct James Kazinga, to work with the community of Christ here at Oasis Church, Kadungu.

4. Act of Covenanting

We have gathered today in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ so that you may covenant

with the Lord and with each other; and be fully constituted as a fellowship of believers,

the body of Christ.

There are four things asked of those who enter this covenant:

     1     Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ;

     2     Mutual love within the fellowship;

     3     A willingness to obey Christ’s great commission;

     4     A commitment to the wider fellowship of God’s people, and to working with others.

Let me ask James & the members of this fellowship to stand.

As believers who have decided to be the Kadungu Oasis Church:

Q1: Do you believe in one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit?

Answer:  We do. This is the God in whom we trust.

Q2. Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour?

Answer:  We do. He has redeemed us and called us by name.

Q3. Do you turn from sin, renounce evil and intend to follow Christ?

Answer:  We do. Christ is our way. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we will follow Jesus in the Church and in the world.

Jesus said: ‘I give you a new commandment: love one another; as I have loved you, so you are to love one another. If there is this love among you,  then everyone will know that you are my disciples.’

Let me ask the whole congregation to stand to greet one another in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to share his peace. Visitors please sit.

Now I invite this fellowship to covenant together before God and each other. Say with me:

This day we give ourselves to the Lord and to each other to be bound together in fellowship and to work together in the unity of the Spirit for the sake of God’s mission:

          in our local congregation,

          in partnership with other Christians,

          in our wider Oasis family

          And with our Partners in Harvest family worldwide.

We commit all we have and all we are to fulfilling God’s purposes of love.
